WOMEN`S HEALTH: An important issue addressed.

Tibetan Women's Association observed the International Mother's Day on 14th May, 2006. Mrs. Tsering Lhamo, nurse, from Tibet Charity was the sole-resource speaker to highlight on the topic "Women's Health" coinciding with the occasion of International Mother's Day, on Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm at Tibetan Community Hall, Mcloed Ganj, Dharamsala

The exclusively girls participation enabled the participants to shed all their inhibitions and gave them ample of scope and opportunity to put questions to the speaker. The speaker stressed on reproductive issues and dangers relating to Sexually Transmitted diseases (STDs). Health care issues relating to AIDS and Hepatitis and the importance of maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet was emphasized on. The speaker created a healthy and free environment where around 40 women (from 19 to 49 years old) gathered to a lifetime learning about healthy living.

One of the important objectives of TWA is social empowerment, and this activity falls within its paradigm.
