Get Involved! Tibetan People's Movement
On August 4, 2007, the Tibetan Women’s Association, the National Democratic Party of Tibet, the Gu Chu Sum Movement, and Students for a Free Tibet (India) will be hosting The Tibetan People’s Movement Campaign at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, India. The purpose of this event is to draw international attention to the gross human rights violations committed by the Chinese government against Tibetans and also to highlight the exclusion of Tibetans from the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
The event will include an international run to feature all of the nations from which Tibetan supporters originate as well as an international soccer game between the Tibetan and Indian national teams. One of the highlights of the day will be the announcement of "Team Tibet", which will apply to the International Olympics Committee to participate in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The day will conclude with a contemporary play entitled "Twenty Years of Struggle, 1987-2007".
