Research Internship Position

The Tibetan Women's Association is currently taking resumes for a research internship position at the Central Executive Committee office in Dharamsala, India. This position is designed for someone with research experience and who has an interest in learning more about Tibetan nuns in-exile. TWA would like to publish a book that focuses specifically on Tibetan nuns in-exile, their access to education, opportunities towards Tibetan Buddhist studies, and possible imprisonment in Tibet. Two surveys have already been released to multiple nunneries in India, so a large part of this job is to compile the information already supplied. TWA encourages qualitative analysis of the data by interviewing nuns within the area regarding the results. These interviews will be used to supplement the quantitative data from the surveys. The internship duration is dependent on the availability of the intern during the summer of 2007.

Qualifications
  • An interest in the subject matter and a B.A. in a relevant field, however a M.A. is preferred.
  • Experience with human research (both quantitative and qualitative) is preferred.
  • Flexibility and ability to work on a project that has already begun.
  • Self-motivation, good note-taking skills, good interviewing skills, and the ability to complete the project.
